Promoting a healthy mind, body and soul through wellness and recreation is a priority at Shannex. We take a holistic approach to being well, focusing on six dimensions of wellness: physical, intellectual, social, vocational, emotional and spiritual. Through consultation and regular conversations, our Recreation team members take time to get to know each client and activities are designed to incorporate personal hobbies and interests into the monthly recreation calendar.

Our Culinary Commitment

At Shannex, we are committed to providing an exceptional dining experience that offers variety, choice, presentation, taste and nutrition at every meal.

The Shannex Culinary Centre in Halifax is a state-of-the-art operation with a team of chefs and cooks who work collaboratively to develop menus and prepare meals for enhanced care clients. Shannex staff ensure residents enjoy fresh, carefully prepared and nutritious meals.

Dietitians meet with clients to complete a nutritional assessment to understand their dietary requirements. This also provides an opportunity for residents to discuss allergies, sensitivities and food preferences.

Menus are designed to include as many fresh, seasonal and local products as possible. Creating these menus requires input from many people. Taste testing and responses to the dining surveys provide insight and direction from the people who matter most—our residents.

Nothing makes us happier than seeing family and friends dine together, so please speak with the receptionist to ensure we set an extra place at the table for you.
