COVID-19 Update – December 26, 1 p.m.: Jamieson Hall

The following is an update related to the positive employee case we reported on Thursday and the subsequent testing of some residents and employees at Jamieson Hall.

We are pleased to report that all resident and employee testing conducted at Jamieson Hall on Wednesday and Thursday, has been returned negative.

This update has been provided to all residents and families at Jamieson Hall.

Our team is working closely with Public Health and taking all steps to protect our community. This includes retesting for some residents and employees at Jamieson Hall scheduled for December 31. Re-testing is important. It is how we are able to identify positive cases for individuals with no symptoms and this can control further spread of the virus.

At the direction of Public Health, some residents at Jamieson Hall continue to isolate in their suites with support from team members to monitor their health and facilitate safe recreation activities, video or phone calls and window visits with family members. Visitors are not allowed at this time. This is a difficult precaution during the holidays; however, the safety of those who live and work in our community is our first priority.

We will continue to provide updates on the situation.

COVID-19 Update – December 24: Employee positive case at Jamieson Hall, Parkland at the Lakes

We have been notified by Public Health that an employee at Jamieson Hall, an assisted living community in Dartmouth, N.S., has tested positive for COVID-19. Based on contact tracing through public health and our occupational health and safety team, it has been determined that some resident and employee testing is required. Most of the testing was completed last night and additional testing will take place this morning.

We are working closely with Public Health and our team is receiving support from our Shannex COVID-19 Response Team, which includes our Infection Prevention and Control Specialist and Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness team members.

While we do not have results of the testing at this time, we have taken the proactive step to place some residents at Jamieson Hall on isolation until we know more. This means, visitors are not allowed at this time. We did not make this decision lightly and are sorry we need to impose these measures during the holidays; however, the safety of those who live and work in our community is our first priority. We will be arranging safe visits for those residents on isolation at Jamieson Hall and their families through window visits and virtual calls.

We have communicated this news to all employees and to all residents and families at each location and will continue to provide updates as more information is available.

Our entire organization continues to be focused on supporting our communities though this difficult time.
