To our valued community,

I am writing to our valued community today with great sadness. The tragedy that took place over the weekend in Nova Scotia has moved us all. I know it is especially difficult for those who had connections to individuals and families who were affected. We have a number of communities in the area where this took place and I am conscious that many of our team members and residents are feeling this deeply.

We will mourn together as a community of people who care about, and for, one another.
This morning at 10 a.m. AST, all Shannex, Parkland and Faubourg communities observed a moment of silence to honour the lives lost and pay respect to the families and friends who continue to suffer.
We have arranged for virtual counselling services to be available to all team members at our sites in Nova Scotia that have been particularly impacted. A private room is available with a phone line and instructions for how to access 24-hour counselling and grief support.

Any Shannex team member can reach out to our Employee and Family Assistance Program for support and resources for coping with reactions to stress and anxiety. Immediate and confidential EAP services are accessible 24-hours per day.

In addition, our EAP partner Morneau Sheppell has opened a Crisis Support Line for any employee, their family members or their personal community that is in need of emotional support in relation to these events – they do not need to be a Shannex employee. The Crisis Support Line is open 24/7 and can be reached at: 1-844-751-2133.  By calling, individuals will receive professional emotional support and/or referral to community. These services are available for anyone regardless of their direct or indirect connection to those affected, or regardless of the level of support needed.

We are here for you and are in this together.
