We can confirm that an employee who works at Lewis Hall in Dartmouth has tested positive for COVID-19. Their positive diagnosis is linked to close contact with another case in the Halifax area. Lewis Hall is not a licensed long term care home. It is a private retirement living community.

The individual last worked on March 22. They have not been in the workplace since then and took all appropriate precautions in notifying both Public Health and our Occupational Health team.

Public Health is providing all direction to the individual and to our clinical teams. We are working closely with them to take all steps to protect every person who lives or works in our community.

This is an unsettling situation for our residents and team members. Our Infection Prevention and Control Specialist is working closely with the clinical team at this location and collaborating with Public Health to manage this situation and ensure all residents and team members are taking proper precautions with their health and safety as our highest priority.

Our entire organization is focused on supporting our communities through this challenging time today and as the days go on.
